I’m Still in Japan and Can’t Connect to the Internet


Most of our eSIM plans are for use outside Japan and cannot connect to the internet while you are in Japan.

You can install the eSIM and prepare it for use while in Japan, but you will not be able to connect until you arrive in a supported country or region.


Overseas eSIMs cannot be used in Japan

eSIM plans intended for use overseas cannot connect to the internet in Japan.
You can install the eSIM or add it to your device while in Japan, but this only prepares the eSIM for use.
You will be able to connect once you arrive in a supported country or region.


Your usage period will not normally start while you are in Japan

For eSIM plans that cannot be used in Japan, the usage period will generally not start while you are still in Japan.
Therefore, being unable to connect to the internet in Japan does not indicate a problem with the eSIM.
Warning
For a small number of eSIM plans, the usage period may start when you set up the eSIM in Japan.

Some eSIM plans can be used in Japan

Regional eSIM plans that include Japan among their supported countries can also be used in Japan.
In this case, the usage period will begin once you start using the eSIM in Japan.
If you use the eSIM before your trip, please keep the remaining usage period in mind.
